Znojmo is a marvellous historic town set above the Dyje river in South Moravia (90 km from Wien, 200 km from Prague). The historic town centre with its many churches, all surrounded by mediaeval city walls, has preserved its Renaissance look and is full of winding lanes, romantic views and picturesque secret corners. Znojmo is also the centre of a well-known wine region. Wine will accompany you every step of the way.
The Znojmo Music Festival endeavors to link two main lines: Each year, quality music that is dedicated to one of the most renowned composers and unequivocal wines from local winemakers who are also sponsors of various concerts. Tastings are held at all festival events. The two main pillars are complemented by a special Znojmo festival menu, a wide variety of restaurants, trips, historical monuments, unconvential concert venues such as the dilapidated chateau in Uhercice and many special events. A wide variety of musical styles resound in churches in Znojmo and surrounding villages, as well as Louka Monastery, Znojmo Castle, Town Hall Tower, streets, squares and parks. For example, „Music in the Streets“ is a happening of various genres which can be enjoyed by everyone.
In 2023, the 19th edition of the Znojmo Music Festival will be held. This year the most anticipated event will be the production Harmony of the Planets by Antonio Caldara. In a renewed premiere after 300 years!
